Happy Thanksgiving!

Alex and I went down to Santa Barbara to spend Thanksgiving with his family.  We had a great Thanksgiving dinner with his dad and Luella.  We brought the Eastwood's traditional holiday candied sweet potato dish...

...and helped put the last minute touches on the rest of the meal in the kitchen of their new home.

Dennis and Luella had planned quite a Thanksgiving menu!  We had baked pears covered with goat cheese and filled with fig jam on a bed of arugula garnished with walnuts, slivered red onions, and homemade dressing.

We also had a spinach soufflé...

...and emerald potatoes, mushroom gravy, and small pumpkins filled with chestnut stuffing.

We finished the meal with fresh pumpkin pie.

The next day we lavishly dined again with Alex's mom, Bob, and Alex's cousin Zach.  Zach always manages to wow with his knowledge of all things beer.  A certified Cicerone, he writes for the Santa Barbara Examiner.

In case the rest of you at too much turkey (hopefully a heritage turkey or something along those lines), Wiley reminds you to eat your greens!

While Maya suggests you take a nap to sleep off all of the feasting.

(Yes, Wiley really does eat spinach.)
