Amy and Alex traveled half way around the world together – from southern California to South Africa - just five months into their relationship. Amy had been planning a trip to visit her college friend Melanie and her husband David for almost a year prior, and she was thrilled to find a companion who was willing and excited to make the trek with her.
They met Melanie in Cape Town, one of the most amazing cities either Amy or Alex had ever visited. There they saw penguins, climbed a mountain, visited a vineyard, saw a concert in a botanical garden, and journeyed into a shantytown. After Cape Town they went down the coast to spend several very relaxing days with Melanie and David. The highlights were surfing in the Indian Ocean (where Alex saved Amy’s life!), visiting the very famous surf spot called Super Tubes (note the perfect waves in the picture), and going on safari.
